The old scientific thinking about weight gain is that it takes an extra 3500 calories to gain a pound or that same number of calories for weight loss. We now know it’s more complicated than that but the laws of thermodynamics still appear to be intact. In other words, if you eat more than you burn off you will gain weight.
So let’s assume for the moment that the old calculation is at least somewhere in the ballpark. And let’s also assume that burning a few extra calories without upping your calorie intake can help you maintain your weight.
Add to these assumptions something we know for a fact: The average American consumes more than 3,000 calories on Thanksgiving making it the most fattening day of the year. That’s why you’re going to take this week to rev up your metabolism and burn some extra calories.
Here’s your AcaciaTV Pre-Thanksgiving “Burn-Off-the-bird” playlist. Follow along and you’ll burn just about a theoretical pound’s worth of calories in the run up to Thanksgiving. Don’t think of it as a license to throw caution to the wind. It’s more like an insurance policy to offset a large, immensely enjoyable meal. Happy Holidays all!
*Hint: This might be more time than you normally devote to working out on a daily basis but keep in mind that you don’t have to do each program all at once. They are divided into segments you can do throughout the day.
