There are a ton of great workouts out there—heck, we here at AcaciaTV will even deliver them straight to you through iTunes and Amazon Prime. But when it comes to cardio, it can be tough to find low-impact options that you can do anywhere. What about those times when bouncing around isn’t an option?
I mean, what’s a gal to do when she’s gotta keep it down because the baby’s sleeping…or she doesn’t want to disturb her downstairs neighbors…or she’s nursing knee or back pain? Is she doomed to have cardio-free workouts? I say, not at all!
There’s no reason to give up cardio just because you’re unable to do high-impact— trust me, with the right moves, you won’t miss all the pounding.
I’ve created a 15-minute total body circuit that blends a little bit of strength-training with a little bit of low-impact cardio that only requires 1 weight; I used a Kettlebell but you could easily use a dumbbell as well. The best part? Absolutely no impact! I even do all the moves barefoot— just promise me that you’ll watch your toes with that weight.
After a good warm-up, do each of the moves listed below for 40 seconds as quickly as you can while still maintaining control and good form, then rest for 20 seconds before moving onto the next move. Once you’ve completed all the moves, rest for 60 seconds and repeat the circuit again.
Squat to High Row
Single-Arm Shoulder Press (20 seconds per arm)
Forward Lunges with Kettlebell Pass-Thrus
Plank to Side Plank
